There are two options for the offline model: Oasis Server, or 1U Server

Oasis Server

How It Works

Oasis is a small device that serves both as a content server and a wireless hotspot. Oasis creates its own wireless network that can be accessed by computers in the classroom. It does not connect to the Internet; all of the content is housed right on the device.

In the classroom, you can use your desktop computers, laptops, or tablets to connect to Oasis.

Why Use Oasis Server

Oasis works in locations/classrooms/facilities that either do not allow Internet access by policy, or where providing Internet access is technically not possible or the connection is not robust enough to serve a classroom of students.

In small facilities where the cost and time of setting up a secure Internet access is just not possible, the Oasis Project can be the solution. The set-up is simple:

  1. Plug it in, turn it on
  2. Configure your classroom computer to recognize the Oasis wireless network
  3. Connect to the Oasis wireless network
  4. Login to i-Pathways

The Oasis Server model is based upon the same i-Pathways curriculum that we offer to non-corrections adult education programs and students. It is slightly modified for the corrections classroom, i.e. no link to the Internet for additional resources.

1U Server

The i-Pathways Oasis server is geared toward locations where you do not have the capability or policy to allow Internet access, but currently have a local area network.

The Oasis server is a single unit rack mount server, or 1U server, which provides all of the i-Pathways curriculum, features, and functionality to your facility and students.

How It Works

The 1U model does not require access to the Internet. Your IT staff will install the server on the data racks to enable connection to the computer classroom. All the i-Pathways content and functionality resides on the 1U server. Your students will have access to i-Pathways by connecting to your facility's local area network.

Why Use the 1U Server Model

If your facility has multiple classrooms with an existing computer infrastructure the 1U server provides a seamless integration. If your current computers can access your local area network they will easily be able to access the i-Pathways content. You don't have to worry about providing a secure Internet connection as the i-Pathways content resides on the 1U server.

Looking for an option to run on your own technology? We also have a virtual server option available upon request.
